In this four foot Zebra painting, I wanted to go big, bold, and have a large canvas to truly express the dramatic black and white shapes of the zebra stripes.
I started this painting with layers of spray paint and stencils, which you can still see beneath its stripes. I used lots of scraps of paper and illustrative techniques in the under layers, to create the textures.
Up close you'll see drips of spray paint and hints of the stencils underneath, with unapologetic brush strokes. This zebra makes a peaceful statement of calm, with a bit of edge.
