Summer Laundry
The last days of summer are here, and this painting is a memory of mine from childhood. I was playing in the grass, barefoot, while my mom hung the laundry on the line, in East Liverpool, Ohio. I stepped on a bee and had my first bee sting. You can see the bee at the bottom of the painting. I tried to capture the mood of the late summer day, with just the perfect temperatures, and the wind gently blowing. I began this painting with spray paint stencils, and added illustration, acrylic paint and origami papers in a slow, indulgent layering process.
